Living out in the country comes with a pretty long to do list, but find I am struggling to organize my time accordingly to get the tasks done.
Along with the much needed moisture we have received, the grass has suffered by not having it's weekly manicure, not to mention dandelion control. The progression from bright yellow "flowers" to fine white fluff floating in the air has nothing to be desired. I'm not sure which I despise more, the color yellow in my lawn or the fluff that is all over everything.
The many piles of things needing to find places in the garage or shop seems to be growing, as does the list of things needed for various vehicles and trailers to make them function better.
Maybe the to do lists haunt me as I know that 90 % of these tasks can only be completed when the weather decides to cooperate. When the weather is nice, it's hard not to want to just sit and enjoy it. Our season of summer is a short one with really only 8 weeks to plan and enjoy, leaving a lot of things packed into a very small time slot.
Along with negatives, there are usually positives.
Things I am thankful for :
- Waking up in the morning to the sound of robins singing
- Feeling the cool morning breeze coming through the open window
- Seeing young owls learning the ropes from their elders
- The sound of the horses whinnying as we walk down to feed them
- Looking West at the glorious mountains
- The happy grin the kids wear while going on adventures outside
- The wild pansies and roses that grow around the property
- Sunsets
